| Teacher Training Days Please note that there will now be teacher training days on Wednesday 3rd September and Thursday 4th September. Therefore, the children will return to school on Friday 5th September. Help Required Mrs Kendell would like your help! We are going to turn our vegetable plot into a sandpit. Perhaps you could help removing the soil, or demolishing a small concrete structure, or have access to a large amount of sand? If you are able to help and are free during the last week of term, please let the school office know. Many thanks Summer Disco Discos take place on Friday 18th JulyInfants are invited from 6.00 to 7.00 pm and Juniors from 7.15 to 8.15 pm. Fruit cocktails, tuck shop, tattoos and glo-sticks will all be available. Tickets cost £1.00. If you have an hour spare to help out at the discos, please let the school office know. TICKETS ARE LIMITED AND DO SELL OUT FAST, SO PLEASE RETURN YOUR TICKET SLIPS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT. Upper Junior Performance This year, the Upper Juniors will be performing A Big Green Adventure on Tuesday 15th July at 2.00 p.m. and again on Wednesday 16th July at 6.30 p.m. Parents of the children performing are invited and have been sent ticket order forms to complete. For the evening performance, we request that children come to school by 6.00 p.m. Teresa Jones would like to say a big THANK YOU to all the parents for their time and trouble helping her make the childrens costumes. Year 6 leavers assembly24th July The Year 6 leavers assembly will now take place in the school hall and not the Guildhall as previously arranged, from 6.30 to 7.30 and we invite their parents to watch a celebration of their time at St Stephens through a song and dance show. If more than 2 seats are required, please us know by Friday 18th July. As is tradition at St Stephens, the year 6 children have a collection to purchase a leaving gift for the school. Donations of £1 are welcomeplease forward to your childs class teacher. Churchtown Farm Years 5 and 6 will be going to Churchtown Farm on Wednesday 23d July 2008 to do some outdoor Science and Art work. Please ensure the children have a packed lunch and a drink and either wet weather gear or sunhat and creamweather dependant!! Guitar Lessons Mr Johns has spaces available in his guitar groups from September. If you are interested in learning guitars (or violins or keyboards), please let the school office know by the end of term. Masai Warriors We were extremely lucky to have had some Masai Warriors in school recently. The group, from Kenya, are on their 4th tour around the UK, trying to raise funds to educate 29 children from their small village. The children were treated to many different songs, dances and stories from their culture, many of which the children were invited to join inincluding the headteacher! Afterwards, the group ran interactive workshops with classes, where children were able to ask them questions about the things they had seen and what their lives are like back in Kenya. The feedback from the children was extremely positive and has definitely strengthened our links with . Look out for pictures in the local press. Shelterbox A very big thank you to everyone who supported the after schools sales organised by classes 1, 2 and 3 in aid of Shelterbox. The event raised £140 and brings the total amount collected so far to £620! Codie in Class 5 has also organised her own colouring competition which raised £11.00well done! The last day of term is Friday 25th Julylets keep our fingers crossed for better weather during the Summer holidays! Schools will be open to pupils for 190 days The 5 additional days are allotted for In-Service Training. So Far, the alloted Teacher Training Days are Wednesday 3rd September and Thursday 4th September. As soon as further dates are set, we will let you know. |
